Haypenny was founded with a simple vision: small transactions on the internet should be fast, easy, free and anonymous--just like physical cash. Amounts as small as a penny, and executing in a few milliseconds.
Haypenny's token transaction engine is the fastest, most efficent means of exchanging value ever devised. Our engine has been benchmarked at over one million transactions per second and is capable of handling every single daily transaction in the world--billions per day, hundreds of billions per month: enough to power the entire world's daily transactions at a cost that allows us to offer this service on the internet for free.
A Haypenny currency is very simple: it's just a block. No account to sign up for, no public/private key pairs, no wallet necessary, nothing whatsoever to divulge your identity to those you trade with.
A Haypenny block is a string of 22 characters, and it works like physical cash: its value is derived by virtue of your knowing the contents of the string. Every block has a certain balance of its currency.
There are two operations on blocks: Split and Combine. If you have a block, you can Split it into two with the new block containing a portion of the balance of the first block, whose balance is decremented by that amount. Then you can give the new block to whomever you wish. The Combine operation works inversely: if you have a block, you can combine another block to create one with the combined balance.
This is the simplest form of value transfer ever conceived.
Privacy is our core business. We don't make your transactions available to absolutely anybody outside of our company, and we do not connect any of our internal transactions directly with any human identity (although we fully cooperate with law enforcement where appropriate). In short, unless you are doing something illegal, nobody else is ever going to know about your transactions.
For instance, our cookie policy is simple: we don't use them. At all. Ever. Our external page event tracking, which we use only to maintain and improve our service, was specifically selected because it does not use cookies.
Our full privacy policy is short and simple, and you can read the whole thing in about two minutes.
In order to fulfill our vision, we developed a transaction engine like none ever conceived. We aimed to offer both absolute transaction integrity with full decentralized, geographical and operational redundancy, as well as having an extremely low cost per transaction.
The result was the Haypenny Token Transaction Engine: an engine that can safely process Haypenny block transactions internally in under two milliseconds providing excellent response time for end-users, and most importantly, at a very low cost for scaling transactions to hundreds of billions per day.
At the heart of Haypenny is its development platform that allows site owners and app makers to accept the Haypenny currency with just a few minutes and a few lines of code. Haypenny allows publishers to discover a new revenue stream and customer base from users that are normally adverse to divulging their personal information in order to pay for your service.
Both the USA and Britain minted half-cent coins in the late 1700s and 1800s. Other variations have been minted for the last 700 years, some of the very first halfpennies being made out of silver.
These coins were called a "half-penny", later shortened to "ha'penny" and then colloquially, "haypenny".
Today you can browse through thousands of US and British haypennies for sale on eBay.
Haypenny is headquartered in McLean, Virgina, a few miles from where the internet began, and a quick drive to the area known as Data Center Alley through which an estimated 70% of the Internet's traffic flows.
Haypenny is fully virtual company and our team members all spend their time in the best work location the 21st century has to offer: their home office. We think doing it any other way is outdated and inefficient.
